Arleigh & Ophelia

Our barn session with Arleigh & Ophelia was a long time coming.  This session was a gift last Christmas from Sally to her husband Corey.  The original plan was to shoot in their lovely townhome where Arleigh, a 180 lb mastiff and Ophelia, a long-haired Scottish Fold, would be most comfortable.

But, as often happens, life got complicated.  Corey, a consultant with the Navy, was sent back to Afghanistan. This time for 8 months.  The couple also started renovations on their  home.

So, we decided to wait until Corey returned and finally settled on a session in the barn since the house is still a work in progress.  Arleigh’s large size rather limited our use of furniture. It’s hard to imagine that he was 6 pounds when he came home as a puppy. Ophelia, on the other hand, enjoyed various sofas and chairs.  And since this was our first cat in the renovated barn we thought it fitting that a mouse scurried across the floor as Ophelia took her position under the lights.

With pet photography, it truly is always something. Thanks for finally coming out Arleigh and Ophelia!

Cats Times Three!

We followed up our 3 dog shoot of last week with a 3 cat session.¬† Since the day was dark and rainy we were lucky our subjects preferred the “softer” lifestyle of inside living!

Belle, the “torti” with an attitude, (Is that redundant?), Beagle, the black girl who works very hard for treats, and Morris, the many-toed orange tabby, all greeted us warmly.¬† As we moved around their vintage home looking for the best light, curiosity got the best of them and we never had to look far for a subject.

Beagle was extremely pleasant until she was done with us. Then a quick swat to Michelle sent us to our next subject!

Morris was slightly miffed when we woke him up from his mid-afternoon slumber.¬† He didn’t really care that we were there but couldn’t quite understand why we kept following him!!

Belle was such a torti.. really preferring to be away from the “others,” yet not remotely comprehending why anyone would pay the “others” attention when there was, well, BELLE!!
