Gray Dog Originals…

We just love what we do.  And we’re always so pleased when our clients do too!

Recently I received a gift from a client. We met Michelle when we had a session with her “gray dogs,” Hagen & Pearl this summer.  She is the owner of Gray Dog Originals.., a pottery company that makes all things whimsical!

I was just so pleasantly surprised by my gift – this delightful wine stopper! Thanks Michelle! And hugs to Hagen & Pearl!

Riley Walks the Big Log!

Anyone who has worked with us, or attended an Unleashed workshop, has had the pleasure of meeting one of my assistants – most likely Brandy.  She works tirelessly for me and usually with only a minimal amount of complaining and eye-rolling (particularly when it comes to moving furniture into the fields and streams).

Brandy works wonderfully with dogs and is able to grasp quickly what makes each subject tick.

When I started shooting at the farm, three seasons ago, I noticed this giant tree that spanned the creek. Each time I’d glance at it I’d remark, “I sure would like to get a dog out on that log.”

Enter Riley.

Riley is Brandy’s Piebald Mini-Dachshund. He has been doing agility for almost three years.

When Brandy decided the tree would be no match for Riley and his skills she set out to get him to “walk the log.”

So Sunday, after our morning shoot, we donned our wellies, crawled into the creek, (well at least I did) and Brandy worked Riley on the log.

He performed beautifully. Actually I think the log is about twice as wide as his normal agility ramp. But to this little dog he must have seemed 1000 feet in the air!

Nice job Riley. And it’s always good to take a few minutes and shoot some things just for fun!

I loved watching Brandy try to balance too!

Reston Pet Fiesta – Join Us May 1!

We’d love to see you and your smiling pet at tomorrow’s Pet Fiesta in Reston.  Last year was our first time at the event and it was one of our favorites.

There will be contests for best dressed, best trick and even the best bark/howl!

My dog Niles has been working on his howl and was troubled to learn our booth will be too busy for him to attend…So, please come on out, be wary of the predicted high temperatures, and stop by our booth.  Look for us walking about too. We’re doing a model search and we’ll be out with our camera!

More Snow….

Well, it seems “the lady doth protest too much, methinks,” aptly fits my current state given my prior post.  I complained, you see, about having to run on the treadmill due to our constant pummeling of snow this winter.

So, the God of Nature showed me – she dumped 30 inches of the white stuff upon me and now, alas, even the gym is closed.  I believe I’ll stop complaining.

I ventured out this morning but conditions were so nasty and the snow so deep, I didn’t stay out long.  Here are a few from inside my snow globe.

After shoveling all day, my husband made a tiny dent in our driveway. Niles and Lily were grateful.

Snow

It’s been an unusual winter for us here in northern Virginia.  This is my fourth winter here.  And though it’s only the start of February, we have had more snowfall since December than in my past three winters combined.

I’m not much of a winter person. I like warmth. The older I get the more my joints really appreciate those balmy temperatures! Plus, I’m a runner. I’m a runner who prefers running outdoors to a treadmill – a  million times over.  This snow cramps my style.

That said, there is sometimes such beauty in this white stuff.  It is so breathtaking at times that even I, hater of cold, am lured out into its wonder.  With my camera of course…

So, though it’s only the start of February and the luscious warmth of spring seems so very far away, I’ll stop for a moment and enjoy the beauty of winter.
