In Memory – Gibson

We lost Gibson yesterday.  Way too soon.  He was a young dog and has suffered with a brain tumor for 23 months.  We photographed Gibson in the barn last summer. He was a happy, playful dog.  This is how we wish to remember him.  Bev Hollis Photography has made a donation to 2 Dogs 2000 Miles and our heartfelt sympathies to his humans Mary & Dale. I know he will be sadly missed.

Cats Times Three!

We followed up our 3 dog shoot of last week with a 3 cat session.¬† Since the day was dark and rainy we were lucky our subjects preferred the “softer” lifestyle of inside living!

Belle, the “torti” with an attitude, (Is that redundant?), Beagle, the black girl who works very hard for treats, and Morris, the many-toed orange tabby, all greeted us warmly.¬† As we moved around their vintage home looking for the best light, curiosity got the best of them and we never had to look far for a subject.

Beagle was extremely pleasant until she was done with us. Then a quick swat to Michelle sent us to our next subject!

Morris was slightly miffed when we woke him up from his mid-afternoon slumber.¬† He didn’t really care that we were there but couldn’t quite understand why we kept following him!!

Belle was such a torti.. really preferring to be away from the “others,” yet not remotely comprehending why anyone would pay the “others” attention when there was, well, BELLE!!

Washington D.C. Monuments and one great dog!

Though the skies were less than perfect for those great monument shots, we headed into Washington, D.C. on Sunday for a shoot amongst the monuments.  After a few tussles with park police we managed to capture a few lovely images. Warning: Do not try to shoot amongst the monuments without a permit!

After a while it was old school for Bravo the consummate professional!

Georgia, Daisy and Chopper!

Though officially spring arrived several weeks ago, this past weekend was the first “real” weekend of the season. Finally the skies cleared and brought with¬† them warm temps, plentiful sunshine and perfect days for some dog photography!

We started out of the gates with a bang! Three dogs came to the farm with their humans, Luna and Mike. Georgia, the sage beagle of the family, Chopper (short for “Tchoupitoulas,” a street in New Orleans), a young German Shepherd whose boundless energy had him body-slamming with a “bull in a china shop” sort of result, and Daisy, the little yorkie with a LARGE personality!

It’s always so much fun to watch personalities emerge as we shoot.¬† Georgia was happy to dance and work and smile and eat! Chopper and Daisy decided the camera was a menace and should be either attacked (Daisy’s approach) or avoided (Chopper’s tactic).

Nonetheless, we spent a fun and laughter filled afternoon with this lovely couple and their canine charges…

In Memory – Lucy

It’s been less than a month since I posted about our wonderfully fun session with Lucy at the farm.¬† She just had such a grand time that day!¬† Sadly, Father Tom Murphy, and all of Lucy’s great friends said goodbye to her today.

We know how much she was loved. We understand how much she’ll be missed. I only hope, that when the pain begins to ease, there will be great comfort in the images from that special day.

With our sympathy.
