Hagen & Pearl: Wiemaraners Take the Heat!

After our blast of unprecedented snows this winter, we’ve followed up with a strange spring as well. First rain, then unseasonably cold, and this week temperatures topping 95°.

Though it wasn’t the hottest day of the week when we met up with Hagen & Pearl, it ran a close second.  These two lovely Wiemaraners came to Tranquility Farm from Charlottesville, VA and since the ride was nearly 2 hours I wanted to be sure we could get this session in.

Though fairly fit for their age, Pearl is 7 and Hagen is 9, Hagen suffers from several health issues that I was very aware of on this sweltering day.

So we started gently.

Close to the barn.

In the shade.

We even took a break and went back into the air conditioning before we started the second segment of shooting.

The dogs held up remarkably well and tolerated most of our requests with a happy wag of their stubby tails.

This session was particularly important. Not just with Hagen’s failing health, but also because over a year ago the dog’s human, Michelle had paid for another photo session with a different pet photographer, and has yet to receive her paid for images.  I am appalled at this behavior from a fellow photographer. Not only because of the lack of business ethics but because a year in a dog’s life, especially one in failing health, is a long time. That period in time cannot be repeated.  The looks captured then cannot be duplicated.  Michelle made the effort to document her family members and she deserves those images.

But enough of that soap box.  We cannot fix her last experience but hopefully we can be sure she is thrilled with the experience she had with us!

We were glad  that she decided to try again. We are honored that she trusted us with her beloved family members.

Thanks for coming out to the farm Hagen & Pearl and hopefully we’ll see you back for a fall session!
