It with with a heavy heart that I post this memorial. It wasn’t supposed to be this way. We met Sosa and his cohort, Mollie Anne the fall of 2010. The photo session was driven, in large part, by the fact that Mollie Anne had been diagnosed with cancer.
Though doing well, her humans had no idea how much time she had left and wanted to capture some images while she still felt great.
Fast forward a year. Mollie Anne is doing surprisingly well. But sadly, her younger counterpart, Sosa, recently became acutely ill and was diagnosed with untreatable bladder cancer. They lost him in a matter of hours after his diagnosis.
It’s never, ever easy to lose a family member. I think it’s particularly difficult when we begin to prepare ourselves for the loss of one pet and unexpectedly lose a different one. It knocks the wind out of you on many levels.
So, the Costa Family said goodbye to Sosa. A contradiction of sorts as dogs go – regal and bold and handsome to observe with his full, luscious red coat – but a cuddly, sweet, happy dog at heart.
Our sympathy to the Costa family on your loss of beloved Sosa. And wishes for continued health for Mollie Anne.
