  • WELCOME

I'm thrilled to have you visit my blog! I have specialized in Fine Art Pet Photography in the northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. area for the past 10 years.

Most recently I've moved to Asheville, NC and am doing only limited client work. My recent path has me working on several photography projects, most of course, involve dogs.

Please check back often for updated project work!

Bailey – June 26, 1995 – November 12, 2008

We were saddened yesterday to learn of the loss of Bailey Noe.  We were scheduled to photograph her at her home this coming Monday.

Though she seemed to be in stable condition, her diabetes took a dramatic downturn, and her humans decided to relieve her suffering yesterday.

We didn’t get to meet Bailey and I am just so sad about this.¬† Photographing these aged, wise dogs is important to me.¬† Because I know when they’re gone their humans find great comfort in our photographs.

Sadly we didn’t get the chance with Bailey.¬† Our deepest sympathy to the Noe family.¬† As Bob Noe said, “She taught us so much about unconditional love.”

Haley - RIP sweet Bailey!
There is nothing wiser than the whitening face of an old dog. They are all so beautiful, and Bailey was no exception.

Holiday Card Wrap Up – A Gorgeous Trio & a VERY LARGE DOG!!

We finished our holiday card sessions with a family shoot as well as a make-up session for our favorite 3 cockers.

Grizz, the chocolate lab, and Obie, the giant St. Bernard, brought their family out for a card session.  We had a great time and I was glad I had a barn to shoot in!

This raucous and playful bunch was followed by the return of Sophie and Lexie with their newest addition brother, Harley!¬† We shot Sophie and Lexie at the farm last summer.¬† Lexie’s brother, Harley joined them in time for their holiday session.¬† He got the featured single image here since he missed the summer session!

Have you ever seen such big fluffy feet??!!¬† I loved the Hollywood drama of his single shot!¬† After the “bull in the china shop” with Obie, these three sort of danced and floated about as we shot.

What fun!

Patti - I absolutely love the photos you do with the jean legs. The one you did for Lydia with Daisy is one of my favorites, not to mention the one of Lily hanging off of Lydia’s leg! I think you should include a shot like this of all your clients. You are incredible

Finally the Weimeraners!

Yesterday Riley and Chloe returned to finish what they’d started when my dear Nikon decided to depart this world for a week or so!

As our fall is turning rapidly to winter, and the light rides low on the horizon, we had a chance to romp the farm with two marvelous dogs.

First there is Riley. A striking “blue” color and wonderful to photograph- full of shadows and textures.¬† Though you see him here in some regal poses please note he is a “character.” Watch the treat bag and toys at all times for he is always on the prowl.

Next is his younger sister Chloe.  A sweet and happy girl.  Beside herself with all the sitting, standing and posing we asked of her Рbut happy to do so for the right treats!

This pair gave us a run with their high energy antics. We look forward to making their holiday card!

Haley - I love Riley’s little lower lip in the first one. I would love to photograph a Weim someday… they look great with those fall colors and your b/w frames are so pretty, too!

Louie and Bruder – Schnauzers!

On Saturday we had the pleasure of running the farm fields with Louie and Bruder.  Louie is the gorgeous standard Schnauzer. Bruder is his delightful rescued schnauzer-mix brother. How about these beautiful faces??

As usual, two distinct personalities. Bruder was all about fun. Louie was all about trying to do what we asked so he could get  his picture taken and then go smell something else!

These were two lovely dogs and very much loved by their humans, Carol and Ken. Thanks for spending your day with us!

Haley - I love them! Again (sorry if I am annoying you about this), your use of light amazes me. Maybe if I moved somewhere that actually HAD light, I would feel better. : ) But really, I love these. Can you pretty please post more often?

Dori Carbaugh - Oh, you have no idea how happy I am to see this. I had to give my Bruder up in 2006,and it broke my heart. I still think about him on a regular basis, and remember him jumping at the car window as the rescue volunteer pulled away. I am so glad to see him so beautiful, and well cared for. I realize this is a post from 2008, but that is two years after I relinquished him to the rescue, and he looks so well.

Ben – A Lovetsville Lab!

Yesterday we visited with Ben – finally. Ben’s shoot rescheduled several times from early summer when we were having so many thunderstorms. Given the amazing color we got yesterday I’m glad, in the end, we postponed until fall.

Ben is all lab. He met us yesterday with 3 toys in his mouth at once and honestly thought we were there to spend the day chasing him! Until the treats came out.¬† He quickly got the idea of “model shoot” and was happy to lie about the beautiful grounds of the farm he shares with his humans, 2 other dogs and 2 cats.

Ben is a dog with deteriorating joints and a ton of soul.¬† It’s his rear legs that are the problem.¬† Ben has found this yoga-type move to help him rise. He gets his front legs under him and “pops” upwards in order to not stress those painful back legs.

He was a trouper yesterday – following us (and our tasty treats) and hanging in until we were done. He even found time to bark at the UPS man.

I always say it’s all about the eyes. In Ben’s case this was especially true.¬† I just think there is so much history and soul there.

After we rambled around his property Ben invited us in to warm up and snack on some candy corn. He even carefully followed us downstairs where we caught a few last restful poses.  Thanks for a great afternoon Ben!
