I'm thrilled to have you visit my blog! I have specialized in Fine Art Pet Photography in the northern Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. area for the past 10 years.

Most recently I've moved to Asheville, NC and am doing only limited client work. My recent path has me working on several photography projects, most of course, involve dogs.

Please check back often for updated project work!

Welcome Lily!!!

After the sad loss in August of Daisy Best, bulldog and business partner of Lydia Best of Everything and The Dog, it’s now time to welcome the latest team member on board – Lily.

After yesterday’s shoot it is obvious that Daisy’s feisty spirit lives on! Welcome Lily!

Gibson's Mom - Lily you are the luckiest puppy in Loudoun County. Your grandma, uncle Bob and of course Mommy and Daddy are the greatest. I agree with uncle Bob you are beautiful. Can’t wait to meet you in person. Miss Bev took some really nice pictures.

Ridgebacks Times Three!

We spent an afternoon on the farm with Tucker, Henry and Henry’s best friend, Stretch.

We had three very different personalities…

Tucker was the most reserved.  Always, always scanning for his human, Jenifer. Never far from safety. Tucker is a typical Velcro dog.  Though his brow is furrowed we managed to see him have a bit of fun too.

Stretch was the middle personality. Easy going, a bit wary, but a trooper all the same. Happy to frolic with his friends for the afternoon and very excited by the whistle! He brought his human Caroline along so he had a lap to rest in.

Lastly, there was Henry. No worried brows here. Henry is all about fun. Henry is also large. One must be careful around big, frolicking Henry..

All very different personalities. Three very sweet and beautiful Ridgebacks. Thanks for sharing a great afternoon with us!

In Memory

We lost another beloved pet this past weekend – Brandi, much loved family member of Jason & Trinh of Leesburg, VA, passed away after a valiant battle with renal failure.

Brandi was adopted at the advanced age of 11,  yet she brought 5 years of joy to Jason & Trinh.

We extend our condolences to the Wauer’s on the loss of their much loved family member. May your many years of wonderful memories bring you some comfort.

With love and gratitude for bringing this small bundle of spirit into your lives.

She was so full of life, and we are very thankful for the time we had with her. Thanks, Bev for the very beautiful note about our little girl! You have such a way of capturing the essence of our fuzzy loved ones, both in pictures and in words.

It’s never anything but hard losing a loved one, but now, you can take comfort in knowing Brandi is no longer suffering and is in a better place, chillin’ and watching Redskins games while eating double cheeseburgers and Buffalo wings with other Yorkies, black mambas, brontosauruses, and other friends.

Thank you for having a place of remembrance so that all of us can have a place to remind of us of fond memories that we’ve been able to share with Brandi and her family.

Abby Hoff - She looks beautiful. I’m so sorry that you lost your little Brandi, and I know that your home must feel emptier without hearing the tiny pitter patter of her feet. You were wonderful parents, and no one would ever be able to say that she lived a moment without love in your home. I will miss my little dog niece, but I’m glad that such a tiny creature can leave such a big impression.

October 6, 2008 - 5:41 pm

Mary Sullenberger - Dear Trinh,
Words could never express my sincere condolences over the loss of your beloved Brandi.
These little souls have a way of burrowing deep into our hearts. Especially when you are so devoted to them and they to you!
God has a way of choosing who he wants to give the love and care to these beautiful little pups and he chose you and Jason.
Your love and dedication to her is obvious in the length of time that she lived with a diagnosis of renal failure.
Well…Brandi is now well and happy and playing at the Bridge. I hope that she has met my Sadie and they are waiting for us to join them there one day.
May God wrap his arms tightly around you and help you through this unsurmountable loss.
Blessings and love, Mary

Our string of gorgeous evenings continued last night in northern Virginia. So we got to meet Lacy.

Lacy is a terrier mix who was rescued from a shelter in east Tennessee several years ago.  Since then she has been in her forever home in Ashburn, VA.  Besides the fact that her humans are two wonderful dog parents- Lacy also has lucked out in that she was adopted by a pair of master gardeners!

So, Lacy spends her days chasing chipmunks (“chippies” to her) and rabbits and lounging in the beautiful gardens at her home.

Besides our beautiful setting, Lacy may very well be the nicest dog I’ve ever photographed.¬† Not many dogs will let you get inches from their face with a 16mm lens.¬† Didn’t faze this girl…

All dogs should be this sweet. Thanks for a great shoot Lacy!
